Sustainable flowers - is that possible?

Birthdays and anniversaries are usually celebrated with big flower bouquets. As a result, the flower industry is booming, and tons of fresh flowers are shipped around the world every year. Consumers spend millions giving flowers to their loved ones, as well as to decorate their homes. Cut and fresh flowers look great, but usually only last a few days.

What does this mean for the climate?

Cut flowers harm the climate. Their transport is reflected in the balance sheet, but imported flowers can still be more environmental friendly than plants grown in Germany or Netherlands. The type of cultivation counts. According to WWF, a rose grown in Kenya can cause less CO2 emissions and can be more sustainable than a rose grown in Europe.

Jules & Jewels and sustainability

A unique product is created by preserving a plant that combines the best of both worlds: the beauty of a natural plant and the durability of an inanimate object. All Jules & Jewels flowers are real and natural. They have been treated with a stabilizing, biodegradable plant-based liquid. Thanks to the longevity of our products, Jules & Jewels flowers use less energy for transport and storage, less water and thus offer an efficiency advantage over cut flowers. The result is a lower CO2 footprint.
